Diploma Copy: An Official Requirement

By: Fen Tan

Diplomas are very important documents that serve as a certification that the recipient or the individual has successfully passed the certain academic course. Usually, a copy of a high school diploma is requested by universities to students who would like to apply for entrance in their institution. This is to assure that the student has passed the high school level as this is required before entering a higher level of education or the tertiary level.

A copy of a diploma is also required by some employers. Usually, an employer will ask the employee to bring a certified true copy of their diploma along with a transcript of record as this will ensure that the employee has met the High school or college degree requirement of the company. This will also help the employer to verify if that certain individual is qualified for that certain position.

Additionally, a diploma is also used for personal purposes. Many professionals display their diploma proudly by having it framed before placing it in a place that can be easily seen by visitors. Others have their diploma copied because the original was lost or misplaced. Some just think that the original diploma is just too important to display so they hang a copy instead.

Any individual can obtain a copy of his or her diploma from the school or university that they graduated from. Simply call the school's registrar's office and ask for the person designated to handle the graduates' request. Ask for all the primary requirements for obtaining a diploma copy. This may include an alumni ID or basic info such as the year that you graduated in. Some schools require a certain amount of money to be paid. For some schools furnishing a copy of a diploma may take several days or even weeks.
