Have you entertained thoughts of going back to school to get a degree or to complete a degree program you started previously, but dismissed the idea because you thought you were too old to go back to school? When most people think of school, young 18 to 20 year olds come to mind. The reality is that higher learning is not limited to a certain age group. Any person desiring to better themselves by going back to school is entitled and even encouraged to do so, regardless of age. Going back to school at 40+ may seem scary at the start, but the truth is, you are never too old to go back to school. Returning to school as a mature adult may require some sacrifices that may stretch you beyond your comfort zone, but it may also prove to be one of the best decisions you've ever made in your life. A senior citizen named Nola Ochs graduated from Fort Hays State University, at 95, with a degree in General studies. Another senior citizen named Mozelle Richardson graduated from the University of Oklahoma, at age 90, with a degree in journalism. If these mature women can successfully return and matriculate through college, then you can too. Be inspired by there accomplishments and know that with some hard work and dedication, you can do the same thing no matter if you're forty or ninety-four. Rather than believing that you're too old to go back to school, believe that you can do anything you set your mind to do. Rather than considering how returning to school can't be done, consider how it can be done. Going back to school is a chance to: 1. Grow professionally. 2. Make more money. 3. Career advancement. 4. Acquire new skills. 5. Grow professionally. 6. Change Careers. 7. Meet new people. 8. Personal fulfillment. 9. Accomplish educational goals. 10. Set an example for children/grandchildren. Living life abundantly means committing to life long learning; with knowledge comes growth. There are many programs and scholarships for non traditional students.
