It isn't easy trying to learn Spanish without talking to people who actually speak the language on a regular basis. Spanish teachers whose first language is English may know their subject very well. Yet, they can't give you the understanding of the language you will get if you experience it firsthand. You can 'immerse' yourself in the language by staying amongst Spanish people. This is known as immersion study. You will find yourself in a position where it is necessary to use Spanish in both your business and social life. Because you are obliged to use the language at all times, your learning is accelerated. In order to know what is going on around you, you simply have to start to understand the language. Your motivation to learn Spanish becomes much greater! At the same time, you are in an atmosphere where you can pick up hundreds, if not thousands, of bits of information about the language every day. You learn Spanish in much the same way as a child will learn Spanish. You will automatically start to use the same words and phrases used by the people with whom you come in contact, and you will start to develop an intuitive understanding for those words and phrases which you do not understand. If at all possible, you should try you have a Spanish tutor while you are engaged in immersion study. This way you will be able to get clarification on any points you are unsure of, and they can help you to have deeper insights into the language and culture. If you wish to make your own arrangements to engage in this sort of study, it is easy enough. Just arrange to live in a Spanish speaking area or country for a while. If possible find a local Spanish tutor, and then make sure to mix to the fullest extent with the locals. You can also use the services of one of the many companies who organise this sort of study. They will make all the arrangements for you, which might well include living with a Spanish family. Thus you will find yourself fully immersed in the language and the culture of Spain. You will be interacting on a daily basis with native Spanish speakers, and you will be involved in their social life. Your insight into the language and culture of spain should come on by leaps and bounds. Universities and colleges also offer immersion studies for students. It doesn't matter if you are a young student or someone going back to school. You can take a semester abroad to learn Spanish through one of their programs. Foreign exchange students have benefited from immersion studies for a long time, now this excellent method of accelerated learning is available to all.
