The Simplest Ways To Reduce Stress

By: Ann Triune

We normally face stress almost on a daily basis with no problem. However, it can get so overpowering it can affect our overall lifestyle. If we can reduce stress effectively, we can have a better day, everyday. This article will show you some secrets to reducing stress.

Manage Your Work

The only way to reduce stress at work is to avoid stalling. Instead of spending time thinking and worrying, jot down the things that need to be finished. Chop up your work and allot a time for each segment. Finish your work one at a time, and before you know it, you'd have completed your tasks without breaking a sweat!

Moreover, make it a point to do the more critical job first before others. Working on 50 different jobs in a 24 hour period is just impractical. Trying to accomplish all that in one day will only increase your stress levels and delay more pressing jobs.

Take A Break

Your body needs a breather from time to time. Breathe deeply for about 10 seconds and release gradually. Get up from your seat every now and then and do some stretching. This will loosen up stiff muscles. Rest for a bit, since an exhausted body cannot deal with stress as effectively. For those who feel like they've been stressed for years, going on a holiday might do you good.

Your mind also needs some time out. Praise yourself for finishing a particular job and have a quiet coffee break or check out your favorite TV program. There's nothing like taking your eyes off the screen once in awhile. It only takes 15 minutes for you to reduce stress and feel revived once you get back to your job.

If you absolutely must complete your work, delegate! There's nothing wrong with asking for help. You can ask someone to do your work or other chores that are low-priority. This way you have some burden taken off your shoulders.

Practice Yoga

People have been doing yoga to enhance physical and spiritual being for over 1000 years. Yoga is basically about doing stretching techniques and controlling your breathing. Yoga supposedly has the ability to enhance mental health and reduce stress. A great advantage to yoga is that you can practice it in most places. You may do some poses with DVDs in your own home or have some fun at yoga classes.

Exercise

Keeping your body fit is good for you physically and mentally. Aerobics, strength training and stretching are all great exercises to incorporate into your exercise routine. When we so some physical exertion, our body frees endorphins, which are popularly known as happy chemicals. These naturally give us that happy high without any negative side effects.

Have A Balanced Diet

Food does have a potent effect on our bodies. If we put in the right foods, we can reduce stress the natural way. Nourishment is known to help the body better manage stress. Start with a wholesome breakfast and keep your energy up with well-balanced meals.

As you may have noticed, there are quick and long-standing means to reduce stress. All you really have to do is make the first decision to finding that calmness in your everyday activities. Take care of your mind and body for a well-balanced life.
