Was The Scrappage Scheme A Success?

Since the government introduced the scrappage scheme in May 2009, nearly 400,000 people bought cars using it. According to the DVLA, new cars registered under the scrappage scheme accounted for more than 18% of sales for the 12 month period. “The scheme helped support our economy and played a vital role in providing a much-needed boost to the UK automotive industry,” said SMMT chief executive, Paul Everitt. The market for 2010 is predicted to perform well but will not achieve the peaks experienced during the scheme.

Government Set To Reduce Drink Drive Limit

There is rising pressure facing the UK government to reduce the legal limit of alcohol consumption when driving. The current limit stands at 80mg per 100ml of blood which relates to approximately a pint and a half of medium strength lager for an average sized man. The proposed limit would bring it down to 50mg per 100ml of blood which is little more than half a pint or a large glass of wine which is in line with the European Union limit.

Can My Disabled Child Exercise?

Physical exercise is a significant aspect of life and is important for all of us. We all need muscle resistance for growth, we all have cardiovascular systems, our bones need resistance to grow and produce minerals, ligaments and tendons need exercise for flexibility and strength and there are many other universal factors that we have in common, regardless of a person’s ability.

If I Have A Criminal Record, Can I Still Become A Lawyer

A profession in law is a popular concept as it attracts high salaries and secure careers. To become a solicitor or barrister involves a fairly complicated and exceptionally competitive process. If you can get the grades at school to study a Law degree, a four year course, then a further year in a Legal Practice Course (LPC) before finally undertaking two years in a ‘training contract’ at a legal organisation (assuming you can get one) none of which guarantees you a job in law. All this is very competitive from the outset and lends itself to recruiting the ‘best of the best’.

Who Gets What In The Celebrity Divorce?

We are all very familiar with the short-lived-over-hyped relationships of tinseltown and the red carpet and the long-winded lawsuits that follow, we get spoon fed them every day by the media and there is really no escaping them, no matter how uninterested we are.

Why You Need A Will

It is not the law to have a will but if you don’t have a valid, signed and witnessed will, your property, money and personal effects will be relocated by the government. Dying without a Will is considered dying ‘Intestate’, meaning that when you die, the government will get some if not all of your estate.

Can I Reclaim My PPI?

If you have taken out a financial product in the last ten years such as a mortgage, personal loan or credit it is almost certain that you were sold payment protection insurance from your lender. PPI ideally covers your ability to repay your debt should you find yourself in difficult circumstances such as injured or unemployed, however, the lenders found a loophole and have been selling PPI to customers who were not eligible for the cover or who did not fit the particulars of the PPI they were sold.

The Graduate Diploma In Law: Turning Any Degree Into A Law Qualification

You can turn any degree into a qualification of law by completing a one year Common Professional Examination (CPE) or Graduate Diploma in Law (GDL). Almost a third of trainee solicitors and barristers did not graduate with a degree in law. Some students may choose to turn their degree into law at the end of their final year but some may choose to switch careers later in life.

Liquidation Doesn’t Have To Kill Your Business

When a company is struggling to cope under the weight of outstanding debts or have taken a hit from the economic recession the director/directors may decide that the best course of action is to close the business. This is known as a Creditor’s Voluntary Liquidation which essentially involves the creditors agreeing to liquidate the assets of the business and take a share to minimise their losses.

How Much Would You Spend On A Number Plate

If you have ever fancied a privatised registration plate and found yourself only being able to afford the incomprehensible variations on barely significant digits, think about what the other half spend! For some money does not matter so just exactly how much are they prepared to spend on a piece of plastic that will help them get pulled over.
