Here is Why Most Weight Loss Programs Fail
We usually wonder why more than 85% of people who lose weight do not really lose it, but eventually they regain what they lose and often more? Well, it is because they don’t simply realize that dieting is not only about the foods we eat. As a matter of fact, it is rather about why we eat! Characteristically, diets fail to recognize that need for food is the world’s most addictive substance, even more than need for nicotine, alcohol and other substances.
Nevertheless, food is a human need, and without it we would die. It would be hard to give up alcohol, nicotine and other addictive substances, soma online without prescription but they are not even close as necessary to people as food is! So, is it actually any wonder that dieting has such failing effects? As smokers in the western world seem to have given up over the last few decades, overeating has actually taken off!
Once we accept that craving for food is a highly addictive buy medicine online and vital substance for our survival, we start to take control of it. Conversely, if we neglect its habit-forming potential, we will be unable to control it.
There are just a couple of weight loss programs that wholly understand the addictive quality of food and even fewer deal with it – mainly because they simply don’t know how to. Besides, just a small number of diet program planners understand both human psychology and human physiology. It seems to be much easier to tell people what they should eat with the latest and greatest diet.
Trouble is, this focus on what to eat is largely irrelevant; I don’t think I have met an overweight person who did not know what they should eat and what they shouldn’t eat!
Getting people excited – and motivated – about a new diet is easy; people want to believe in a new quick and easy solution, but this motivation only works for the short term. The enticement of a quick and easy solution is the real life version of the story of the drunk looking under the streetlight for his house keys.
As the story goes, a man out for a late night stroll comes across the hapless fellow and helps him search. After spending some time helping the drunk without any sign of the keys, he ventured the question ‘Are you sure you dropped them around here?’ ‘Oh no’, replied the drunk, I dropped them over there in the shadows, but it’s too dark to find them there.’
The best idea is to involve other people with whom you share your refrigerator in your eating regime. That would be a great way to create some kind of a sub-culture that would make it easier for everyone in it to eat in way that keeps all of you slim.
Nevertheless, our biggest responsibility is to teach our children how to manage their weight by making healthy eating habits since their youth. Taking into account that the rate of obesity in children has doubled, you need to know that this might be a very serious problem. However, we can just hope that by the time they are able to make their own food choices, they will know which food is healthy and which one is not.
